Retail work is hard, according to Jake from
PotteryBarnKids in
The Westchester Mall, and he says working with customers isn't always an easy task. In retail, workers may encounter numerous unreasonable customers so they learn proper mechanisms to approach everyday consumers while hopefully maintaining excellent service. And, as the holiday season approaches and the crowds get bigger by the day, workers see more of those customers every employee has grown to "love".
Jake gives us an inside look at the employees' views on customer service, and we get a virtual tour on the store itself. Sometimes where you work can make a big difference and the more expensive the store, the more demanding the consumer. And according to Jake, at PotteryBarnKids they try their best to achieve their goals and get to "yes" for each customer.
You had a really great voice over, sounded like you were a professional! The camera shots of the store were also very smooth and well-shot.
ReplyDeleteThe shots of the different areas of the store fit nicely with your video. I thought it was very impressively put together. The interviewee also seemed very knowledgable of his craft. The customer is certainly always right.
ReplyDeleteI thought the topic and video was great. The music in the background was nice, not overwhelming and fit perfectly with the interview and also I thought the wide shots you captured in the interview were very fitting because it grasp the vibe of Pottery Barn Kids and your transitions went through seamlessly.
ReplyDeleteWorking in retail I know that "the costumer is always right, even when they're wrong," because it's all about saving the sale and making the costumer happy so they come back, I enjoyed how well put together this video was and having the manager answer that "safety of the associates is important" makes me feel a little better as an associate.
ReplyDeleteGreat topic, I take my hat off to you working in retail that is not easy at all. Your manager seems to look after his associates as well as wanting the customers to have great service. The inside of the store looks great.
ReplyDeleteI like you interviewing a manger opposed to a sales associate, being that managers want to make themselves look as "professional' as possible and only be heard say positive things. Your video was well done!
ReplyDeletegood job
ReplyDeleteyou video was great. i would like to hear from a customer or a sales associate on their views. i liked when he said a customer is SOMETIMES always right because its true.
ReplyDeletegood video, nice shots, liked the questions you asked too. working in retail aint easy!
ReplyDeleteYour video had smooth transitions, and I like the footage (0:38-0:42) to go along with what the store has for the holiday season. I feel like the ending should have had some narration though; I just think it was missing something other than the panning and the music.
ReplyDeleteI like the topic you picked because I myself work at the customer service desk at stop & shop and customers can be a pain. Good footage of the items all around the store.
ReplyDeleteThis sounded very professional! The whole project was very smooth and fluid, incredible job!
ReplyDeletei love how you got in a lot of questions and the different shots of the store i would have preferred to see him interviewed in a more lighted setting of the store.
ReplyDeleteNice editing and choice of b-roll; some of your questions could have been cut out of the video, making room for more of your subject(s). You can see the grade for your project in Blackboard. Thanks ~ Prof. Luther
